Environmental Justice Reading Group
Friday, April 19, 2024 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM EDT
Virtual on Zoom
We are an interdisciplinary group of scholars who meet monthly to discuss readings related to environmental justice and injustice. We interpret "environmental justice" broadly, including not only scholarship that self-identifies with this term, but also work that is more generally concerned with society, culture, environment, and power. The group is open to all faculty, staff, and graduate students regardless of their level of familiarity with these themes. This semester our readings will address the theme of Contradictions in/of Environmental Justice.
In this session we will be discussing reading regarding contradictions of participatory processes in environmental justice: the need for participation to achieve justice versus participation as a contributor to inequity. Reading to be selected by a group member, TBD.
