Research as Repair: A Panel Discussion with CHR's Summer 2023 Faculty Funding Recipients

Research and scholarship are the scholar's tools for repair. This repair can take many forms: counteracting the erasure of indigenous presence and sexual discrimination; interrogating who tells stories in popular culture to work toward better representation; challenging the ways certain theories erase human experience. Each of these examples come from the work of our presenters:

  • Samira Alkassim (Term Assistant Professor of Film Theory)
  • Jennifer Ashley (Term Associate Professor of Global Affairs)
  • Michael Gilmore (Associate Professor, School of Integrative Studies)
  • Davis Kuykendall (Term Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy)
  • Jessica Terman (Associate Professor, Schar School of Policy and Government)

Join CHR for a panel discussion on the ways research can serve as means of communal and societal repair. This event will include a general discussion of questions of central importance to CHR's yearly theme: Democracy, Disposability, and Repair. We look forward to having you join our discussion as we tackle the ways we in the humanities approach scholarship as repair.

The Zoom link will be shared in CHR's newsletter. Sign up here.
