CHR Faculty Research Grants for Summer 2026
We are now accepting applications for Summer 2026 Faculty Research Grants.
Each recipient will be awarded $5,000 to support humanities-related research in summer 2026.
All Mason tenured/tenure track and term faculty members (on a 9-month contract) are eligible to apply, and applications from term faculty are especially welcome. Half of the awards will be reserved for term faculty.
We welcome applications from faculty across the university; you need not be in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences to apply as long as your project is humanities-inflected.
Your application should include the following:
1. A one-page project description (and please indicate whether you have previously received funding for this project);
2. Budget (with explanation if necessary, can include basic living expenses or any other type);
3. CV.
Please submit a SINGLE DOCUMENT PDF labeled with your last name leading (ex. Smith CHR Summer Funding Application) to chr@gmu.edu before the deadline- Monday, May 4, 2026.
Applications will be evaluated by the CHR Steering Committee and we expect to communicate news about your status by mid-May.
Please note that the awards will be paid out as summer pay, throughout the summer pay periods (rather than in one lump sum), and count toward taxable income.
