Linda Seligmann Named to the Virginia Humanities Board of Directors

Dr. Linda Seligmann is Professor Emerita in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at George Mason University; her research focuses on the Andean region of Latin America. As a specialist in agrarian and economic issues and gender relationships in the Andes, her most recent book, Quinoa: Food Politics and Agrarian Life in the Andean Highlands (in publication), examines how ideologies of gender and labor intersect in the production of a grain that has become an international super-food in high demand.

The Virginia Humanities Board of Directors, made up of individuals who are passionate about the humanities, oversees organizational policy and programming. The board members are broadly representative of the citizens of the Commonwealth and its various civic, ethnic, and minority group interests.
